Default Hooker Headers Finally Done..

It took me a good while, I took my time with everything. My hands are all tore up bad...but the sound of the open headers made it all worth it. It sounded like 2 ******* harleys..! lol. Anyway the install was very straight forward except for the ******* Drivers Side.!! Man I cursed and cut and hammered and cut some more. Finally I had to take off the lil breather thing on the oil filter and that made it clear. The driver side header was a bitch to slip in. I took out the spark plugs just to be safe I didnt wanna break 1 accidently. But I ended up paying for it in extra time puttin them back in. One of the exhaust bolts was broken on the head all this time, I never had a leak but I guess it was prone to happen. I had to replace them with new 1s. Lets see oh yea for some reason all the exhaust bolts went in smooth when I put the headers on except guess which 1s. The last 1 on each side of the head. Perfect hUH !!!!! I almost cross threaded 1 and they just didnt feel smooth like the others for some reason. Well tomorrow I will have the Y welded on and be finally dont with all my bolt ons for now!>!!! Thanx to everyone for contributing to this site. It always comes in handy.

they will be there for a good while I hope, no need for ****** round with clamps. When they do come out so will the Y so it doesnt matter. I doubt these will be useable after Im done with them, and Im talkin bout the rust. I dont see these headers making it on a daily driver for more than 2yrs. SO yep they are welded.

**** dude, bad idea on the welding of the y to the header, you'll NEVER be able to get he headers out now without cutting the y-pipe off!! Take your car back to the shop and make them weld on some 3 bolt flanges or at least slip fit the y over the collector and use the fat stainless steel exhaust clamp/brackets. While you are at it, make them do it to the back of the y-pipe to the intermediate pipe so you can just pull the y-pipe out when needed, you WILL need to take it out someday!

Did you get a coating on those headers, or stainless steel? How about the Y-pipe? And how was the quality of your O2 extensions? Roll of wire and butt connectors or the ones with male and female connectors? Thanks for any input!

Well the sound is good and deep it gets loud at round 2.5k and keeps roaring, but you cant beat the sound of open headers so a Electric cutout is on da list for a while,. after listening to how it sounded with no muffler its like nite and day. Open headers is like having a harley exhaust. Very Loud.. and obnxious...!!!! I'm very lowered with the hyperco hypercoils so the clearance is just barely about 10-12in off the ground, I drive very careful. Theres a lil rasp right now but I know its the part of the exhaust where the electric cut out will go so I'm not worried for now.

thanx for the info all questions very well answered sounds like you have plenty of ground clearance compared to what i've heard from others... i'm lowered 1.25-1.5 with eibachs... that's why i was wonderin about ground clearance... thanx again
