Default Spark plug wire question

When I bought my spark plug wires, I remember they came with some little packet of some kind of lube or grease looking stuff. I don't know if I still have it, but what is it and do I actually need it? I just put on the driver's half, and they seemed to go on easy enough. Any help would be great!

that's dielectric grease. It aids in conduction and facilitates wire boot removal in the future. You can also buy a large tube of that and put it on your t-top weather seals to extend life and eliminate the rubbing noise that they make.

You can put it on both ends...you don't need a ton of it, a little dab will do ya...(wasn't this a product slogan?)

I think it was "Just a dab will do" or something like that. Ok thanks guys, I'll put the extra on my rubber seals while I'm at it too.

Actually I think it was Brylcreem.....and yes I'm old enough, and NO I never used it. Actually there isn't much left to put it on, LOL.
Come to think of it, it did appear to have the properties of dielectric grease....

I thought it was Brylcreme, a little dab will do ya. Oh well, I'm just old.

Yep, ya gotta love Google:

Also I could never forget the jingle commercial about Brylcreme which was out at some point in the 60's. Brylcreme, a little dab will do ya, Brylcreme, all the gals will pursue ya. Seeing the cartoon man combing his hair now looks like a lot of grease to me. But that was the style back then.

And i thought it was hair gel. It's Dielectric grease. Keeps water out. Just use a small amount.
