Yes, a nicely ported stock TB will do well on all but the most radical street set ups. Ron, me or another sponsor will be able to handle the TB for ya if need be.

I just got mine back about two weeks ago from Cammin BeaSSt. I dynoed 7rwhp more and i can tell a difference. Before i got it my Tach in first couldnt keep up and it would look like i hit rev limiter at 5700. If i let it go up slow it goes to the normal 6200. But now after the throttle body it looks like im hitting limiter on my Tach at 5500. Its a good thing my shiftlight is on its way.
So i would definately recommend the throttle body. Hey Cammin do you do any other polishing work, like heads or anything?

Im having my t/b ported by my old boss Brian at BDJ's Racing. Hes probably done close to 800 t/b's and is a big supporter of porting the stock MAF.

I dont quite understand how it will require tuning due to reading too much air and thus retarding timing? If that were the case wouldnt a CAI, Lid, and P&P'd t/b do the same?

because one of the variables for mass air flow is the area of the opening of the metering device. the computer already knows this area and calculates based on this. if you dont tell your computer the area is larger, then it thinks the air is going slower, meaning the car is getting less air so it will put in less fuel making you run lean. plus it will give inconsistent maf readings. tb are good, MAF is bad, i dont care what anyone tells you. if he took any kind of engineering classes he woudl know this and the reasons.

Incase anyone searches this, i wanted to leave my impressions of porting the MAF. I was telling Brian the opinion of the LS1tech board on ported MAF. He said to either trust him or all the guys on the internet. I trusted him. He took a MAF he had in stock, descreened it, and cut the casted bars out of the middle, didnt even port it, and told me to put it back on and drive it. I told him it wasnt worth my time since it wasnt gonna help. I put it on with the STOCK t/b and airbox and took it for a spin. The car was without a doubt faster Not "yea i can kinda tell". More of a "hell yes you were right this MAF kicks ***". I took it back off so he could port it (not by hand but at his machine shop) and i put the stock one back on. Floored it down the road and the car was once again slower. These are just my honest impressions but everyone is welcome do do what they like on their own car.

well of course u will get more power but if u use the maf readings still they will be inconsistent and give false readings killing your response and part throttle driving. you have to understand how the maf works and then you will not wnat to do this. just tune the maf out and run a strait pipe tahts 20mm bigger than the maf and you will really be able to tell. and the car will respond great too
