y pipe noise

its not a huge pain to put it on....but from what i understand you do have to undo your exhaust.
right. Though some aftermarket / headers Y pipes
are just not properly fitted. I had to beat my SLP
Y-pipe into a proper attitude and rehang it 3 times.
Loosen the Y-I band, the Y-header or Y-cat clamps
and the Y-floorpan hanger.
Put pieces of 1"x4" cut into short pieces, between
the Y-pipe and everything close, the I-pipe and
everything close.
Put the floor jack to the lowest point of the now-
sagging exhaust and jack it until the body rises up
an inch.
Now tighten everything, lower the jack and pull out
all the shims. Should be no interference anywhere
(unless you missed a spot, then you get to try again).
You can try thinner wood but some points, esp. the
Y-pipe, roll with the engine under torque and others
with rear suspension travel / squat from their static
position, so try and claim your space.
