Default Spark plug gap?

After reading numerous threads on here, I gapped my pretty much stock car at .035. This was about two months ago with no problems noticed since. Just curious if I am looking at causing any damage with this.

What plugs did you install? If they were the TR55s then the gap should be more around .050-.055. The TR6s would be good at .035-.040. Personally I set the gaps on a set of TR55s to .055, and the TR6s to .038, but that's me. Oh yeah, if your not running nitrous, high compression, or forced induction then go with the TR55s

They are NGK TR55's. Like I said, I haven't noticed anything bad since I put them in. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to hurt anything in the long run.

I don't think you will hurt anything. You may be a little short on power and get some incomplete combustion. The Haynes manual calls for a .060 gap. I left the gaps on my TR55s at .055. But you are running the kind of gap I would expect to see for turbo or supercharged applications so the spark doesn't blow out.

Don't know if it'll hurt anything, but NGK's website says not to change the gap < or > .008 for best performance for their plugs. I always gap the TR55's to .055. I'd pull them and re-gap, but that's just me.

Yeah, I heard that about the gap too. He might actually need to pull and replace them so they don't fall apart inside his engine...

Thanks, I'll be regapping them when I put the LT's in. I don't recall why I gapped them there. Sounded like the right thing to do at the time I guess. Thanks again for all the input.

Four months ago, when I was still under warranty, GM did a tune up for me and gapped my plugs at .80?!?!?! Bastards, I now have TR55's and they are gapped at .50.
