Oil Cooler Question Remember this poll is for the entire kit not just the block!

The story:
Some time ago I built a custom one off ls1 oil cooler after finding out that out oil temps reach 300 Deg and more.
So I went to a good friend...who makes "catch cans" and had him machine me a ls1 oil cooler block. I then bought/mfgd stainless braided lines and fittings then mounted the cooler in front of my radiator. The block locates in the spot right above the filter where the factory block off plate is located. The block is made out of machined billet aluminum and has provisions for an oil sending unit temp or pressure.
My temp in oil dropped almost 80-90 dgs on avg. On avg now the oil runs abou the same temp as the H2O. In the summer in will run a little hotter.
Now if you make some pulls it will get hotter but the cool off rate is almost 3 times as fast as without the cooler.
My oil temp reached 301 dgs F when I made 3 pulls "on" a mustang and I had to pull over....before cooler. This is what sparked the idea.
With this block and cooler no oil filter relocation is necessary. The lines run along side the bock, to the cooler and back. Most kits relocated the filter and if you dont then the filter hangs below the frame. Not this...it is just like the truck coolers.
Someone told me I should make these as a kit (Block, Lines, Fittings, Cooler) and sell them at a good price b/c most cooler kits are $500 plus. I in theory could sell these at around $400 for everything and not have much markup.
These would be great for drag and road racing and will work on "any ls1/ls6/ls2 cars and trucks"

you can get the block, cooler, lines (real braided stainless, and Areo Fittings) for less than $400? I looked on the site but cant find the "kit?"

Maybe they moved the price up. I was in on the first batch of the "super cool" radiators they made that had a built in oil cooler a year ago. Maybe they cut the first group some slack on the adapters since the radiator was such a big chunk of change.

When you got in on that deal what came with it?

I really dont have a choice on weather or not I need an oil cooler. It pretty much a requirement in ORR if you want your motor to survive.
When it comes to coolers I am pretty picky. I dont care for the standard radiator types. Fluidyne makes a fluid cooler with a built in fan on it. This allows you to mount the cooler somewhere other than in the path of direct air flow. VERY nice unit. Spendy though. I run those coolers for both tans and diff coolers.

Im still not sure if I should market these or not. There is not that much mark up in them and I bet a lot of ORR's would use them. Guess Ill wait and see.

Put it together and you could move a few here. Just make sure you talk with Nineball prior to trying to move a ton of product on the board. Everyone with 1/2 a noodle in thier head would want an oil cooler on a car, even daily drivers.
I saw your post on LS2.com and thought I should copy my reply here as well, hope this helps.
For under $300 you can have this setup and have the necessary oil control valve. You need this oil control valve to allow the engine to reach it's operating temp and go into closed loop (>130 degrees) as quickly as possible (for emissions reasons). $400 is way to much and most people probably would not pay that amount for a kit like that.

Only thing wrong with that set is that there are to many 90* bends. 90* bends hapmer oil flow. If at all possible you was to use turns rather than hard angles and if you can get away with it you want all straight fittings.

PS- would it work where the air pump used to be if done right?
Actually its easy on an Fbody. there is a spot on the block that the vettes use for the oil temp sender. The adapter just takes its place and you dont even have to pull the filter off or have it hang any lower with a sandwich adapter.
