Default 3" to 2.75" ball socket flange....will it fit?

I'm trying to fab up an orp out of a dynomax bullet muffler to replace the cat on my 95 Z. I've searched on here and a few people have done it. The problem I'm running into is that everyone that's done it has an aftermarket catback. Since I was a poor college student when I bought my car, I just bought a replacement muffler instead of a catback and still have my stock I-pipe. Will a 3" male end ball socket fit in the 2.75" female I-pipe? If not, anyone know where I can get a 2.75" male end without cutting up a stock cat? Thanks!

I would take it to a good exhaust shop and have them set it up for you.
