Default Rattling from inside catalytic converter

Whoever had my car before me gutted the cats and sometimes I can hear something rattling around inside one of them.
What would be the easiest way to take it off and get whatever is left in it out?

Thanks!

are you sure they are gutted? If they aren't then the catalyzing material inside is broken in pieces and that is what is rattling in there. Just unbolt them and shake that stuff out or ditch the cats altogether.

I'm not 100% sure that they are gutted but my mechanic thinks they are.
How hard are they to get off?

Thanks!
