Default removing stock cats

i've got a set of stock cats that are in good shape, and i'd like to replace my stock ones, but am afraid that the bolts that hold the stock cats in place are going to break or strip or something the second i try to take them off. my plan is to buy wd40 and spray the hell out of them, but i was wondering if anyone else had any other ideas for this? how long of a job am i looking at?

If they are working fine then why replace them? Or do you just plan to use an off road pipe?

Anyway, I'd skip the WD40 and use some PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench....they work better. Still a good chance that you might break a stud on the cat to manifold connection though.....

Dont be surprised if you do break a bolt, its most likely going to happen. Wd40 works good, but as mentioned use can use some PB blaster as well. Just be sure to soak them really good the night before if you use wd40.

why do you want to replace the ones that you have right now? If your car is in good operating condition they should be working.

another vote for pb blaster, the longer you let it sit the better. 45k miles and 1 broken bolt, or maybe 2, idk i was too excited about my headers at the time

Be sure to spray the hell out of the bolts, I'm removing my cats right now and I've already broken one

PB blaster and give the head of the bolt a nice little tap (or smack) with a hammer or something. That stuff has rarely failed me...
