i'm thinking of doing away with my traction control. what all do i have to do to have this done, or should i even attempt it? i don't drive the car when it is raining real hard or if the roads are real wet.

 

SLP sells a TCS logic module for $70 that you can use to turn it off and on.

 

It makes it so it is off by default, instead of on, when the car is started. It should have a factory on/off switch.

I think you can just go under the car and unplug the connector at the rear end, not sure if the ses light comes on or not though.

 

Like they said. Just get that after market switch that keeps it off until you turn it on. Better then removing it. I think Summit racing has them also.

 

I think the TCS and ABS are tied in together.. Cant you just turn the button to off?

 

ABS doens't really have anything to do with traction control. Turning the switch off deactivated the traction controll but doenst do anything to ABS.

 

Yea, I know that... Im saying if he wanted to pull the wires out of the plugs under the car and above the rear end he might not have ABS anymore. TCS will be off but so might the ABS.
All has to do with the magnetic pulse it reads off the axles.
what I was trying to say was to turn the the TCS button to off! Im assuming thats what its there for!

I had bought a used 10 bolt that had no TCS/ABS hook up. So, I ended up just unplugging the wires and sensors and saving them till I get ahold of some different axles.
My ABS INOP and TCS lights stay on all the time.. I'll get if fixed one day but its not on my high priority list right now.

 

thanks fellas. that answered my question, but i did forget to mention that i was also wanting to remove it to clean up the engine compartment a little more. i guess i can't do that though if it is tied straight in with the abs in the rearend. my plan was to run a throttle cable from the pedal to the throttle body (like the cars without tcs). this would take out the tcs box in the front of the engine bay, and all of the extra cable. thanks again for your alls advice and tips.

 

You sure you are not thinking of the Cruise Control?

 

he is thinking right, that is the TCS module up by the battery. I dont know about cruise on other cars, but the cable from a non-tcs car would be needed, and the cruise setup..
shouldnt be too hard to find i wouldnt think..

If you don't mind the SES light, I think you can just pull the tcs fuse.

 

tuning can turn it off the light too, that is, if you are getting a tune sometime soon..

 

Hell, I was told that was just for cruise control.. Did not know it was tied into the ABS/TCS control somehow.

I just pulled that pic off from over in the FI section. Hope the guy wont mind. Traction control and that thing will be a littel tricky im sure.

 

A bud of mine has HPturner.. But we did not know we could turn off the ABS inop light and TCS light as well. So, it is possible to do this?? Gets alittle annoying after awhile..

Im dont know where to turn it off, as i dont use hptuners, but i think you can turn nearly everything off w/ it.

its not tired in with abs that i know of.. abs is all on the left side by the fuseboxes...

 

Yea, my buddy is not familiar with HPtuner either.. Wasnt about to start turning things off and see what it does..

I just need to get some different axles put in.. You got any?
