Will a Cutout give a stock SS any gains? Anybody tried it?

There's got to be about 5 billion threads on this. Search my friend....it's a wonderful tool. A cutout will gain you 5-8 upper rpm horsepower on a stock ls1.

Yup, you might gain 5-10 rwhp. I would say go for it. This is one of the cheapest mods you can do. I have tried a cutout in the I-pipe and also the "Zed" style just before the muffler. I have the cutout in the I-pipe now, but prefer the "Zed" location. The horsepower gains of the two locations are probably similar, and installing it just before the muffler lessens the interior resonation.

ya, you gain some, i did... but get an electric cut-out.!!!! its alot of fun!

I had an electric cutout.. but i liked the sound so much with it open that i never used it - just left it open.
