Default Slp cold air, ssra

Im thinking of ordering one of the two ramair system, Slp CAI or SSRA Is it worth it..? I used to have the cai when i had a z28 and i noticed a little gain.
Now that i have a SS will the CAI work with my factory ram air...? Will the hood scoop still be functional?

the ssra will work good along with your ram air hood, but if you use the weatherstrip to seal the air box your hood will not be functional.

I have a GMHTP mag from november of last year, and it hardly affected times at all. The times without it were 1.78/12.56 @106.90 and 1.77/12.56@ 106.82 without it and 1.76/12.54 @107.08 and 1.84/12.62@107.25 with it. I was gonna go with the SSRA, but I chose FTRA after reading lots of good things about it. Im sure there are lots of good things to be said about the SSRA as well too. Good luck with your decision, Im sure you will be happy with whichever one you choose.

.25-1/2 a mph is quite a gain in my book! both the SSRA and FTRA are the same design and same everything, EXCEPT the SSRA uses a high quality composite plastic and FTRA uses metal. You decide which one will keep the air cooler when comming in

I always had just the FRA, & I didn't think adding CAI would help. Well I just added the SSRA, Nice kit. My car feels stronger on the top end now. Being a A4 my trap speed are always little lower then M6's with the same mod's. I haven't been back to the 1/4 track but im confedent I gain 1mph. I run this car all the time & I definitely can tell that it pull stronger up top. SSRA get my vote.

The SSRA is a good mod, but you got to be careful going down steep driveways and over parking blocks. I ripped mine off my car after going over a parking block to far. If you get the SSRA you got to be careful. My car is not lowered either

Yep, ripped all the screws right out of the car. Didnt do any damage to the car, but it cracked the lower part of the SSRA righ in half. Needless to say I am very careful around anything steep now.

IMO I feel the greater gain was in the trap speed. One of the times werent that good cuz of the 60'. Im not saying that it isnt worth getting because every little bit does help, and it does help alot more from a roll especially. Please dont think I am knocking the SSRA, because Im not. My choices between cold air kits were between my FTRA and SSRA, and I almost went with the SSRA. I was just merely trying to give some info on it. i didnt mean to come across like that.

I've been completely happy with my SSRA. Whether or not it was a placebo effect, I'd swear that I had better throttle response at higher MPH ( >60 or so) than without. I couldn't give you any numbers but the 5th gear 70-100 pull does feel faster for instance. You'd probably get the same effect out of a similar ram-esque setup, but I do like the scoop on the SSRA despite the fact that a squirrel took a piece out of mine once and I had to patch it with a thin black piece of aluminum (unnoticable). A little pressurized air coming from a colder place isn't a bad thing whatsoever, and while it's not quite as effective as a FI setup, it's a step in the right direction.

Any inputs on the Slp Cai..?
So, will the scoop on my ss still be functional if i dont use the rubber weatherstrip seal that comes with these kits?

I have the SLP kit with my SS.

It works pretty good I think. I swear I felt better throttle response after installing and I think more air gets directed to the filter because it gets much dirtier. The instructions said not to use the seal strip on SS and WS6 cars, so I didnt..

The scoop on ur hood isnt functional anyways, so i cant see why u would be worried about that ?
