Default Is a TB upgrade needed for a 402?

I plan on sticking with the stock LS6 manifold for now. But I want to know if it is worth it getting a ported or aftermarket TB? Any recommendations?

A ported TB is always better than a stock one. I'd just port and polish it myself if I were you.

i highly suggest ported tb's on STOCK motors. hell yes you should get one for your 402!

if i were you....get some dyno numbers with the LS6 and stock TB.....

then i would fork over the $$$ and get a 90/90 FAST set-up... i think you would see some very nice gains with you 402!

I was going to wait on the FAST setup until I get my supercharger. I guess what I am asking is which TB? Ported, AccuFab 75mm, BBk 80mm, or TPIS Oval? The ported is the cheapest to replace when I goto the FAST intake. Both the 75 and 80 are almost the same price. TPIS is too much if I am going to FAST later.

i have a jantzer ported tb and its great, anythign that is ported and smoothed out in there will help a lot

Why not, just yesterday I saw him posting stuff saying he was porting heads now. I am sure a quick tb would be no big deal.

BTW yes you need a ported TB.
I would save up and buy a 90mm intake and TB combo as that motor needs to breath.

How do these ported pieces mentioned compare to Thunder Racing's ported TB? How does AccuFab's 75mm or BBK 80mm compare to ported TB?

I'd check out shaner's ported TB. Thats what I have and very happy with it.

I am thinking about the FAST 78mm. Does it bolt-on to the LS6 manifold? They have them with and without the TPS sensor. Should I get it with the TPS? My thought is I can use it when I upgrade to the LSX intake with the supercharger.
