another exhaust question
im looking for a cat back exhaust.its an 02 ss 6 speed all stock. it does have the center exhaust outlets which i want to keep.ive looked but cant decide, im looking for performance more than sound. as far as headers go im not sure i want too but might in the future. or can i just get the intermediate pipes replaced. emissions are an issue as i live in fear of my state. of course a nice sounding exhaust would be a nice extra. or should i just say f-it .i know this question has been asked over and over.

so your car has center exits? cause that aint stock. anyway, if you are in the market for a catback, I'd checkout Magnaflow, SLP, GMMG (da bessst),or Corsa. Actually anything but flowmaster... lots of the sponsors over on the right side of the page there ----------------->
have catbacks available. check em out! they all flow pretty much the same, and check out ls1sounds.com for exhaust tone clips that you can listen to before purchasing a system. good luck.

You have to ask yourself a few questions: How loud do you want it? How much money do you have to spend? What mods do you plan on doing in the future? Performance wise the cat-backs are all very similar, so the sound, money, and appearance are the biggest things to consider. Answer these and we can help you out with some ideas...

Not stock huh? Not too sure where you get your information from...
First you need to look at your budget and see what you are willing to spend. Don't worry about keeping your tips as they can be incorporated into any catback.
Best bang for the buck: Magnaflow and Hooker
A lot of bang, but a lot of bucks: GMMG

If you like LOUD and are just looking for the most performance for the least amount of money, the TSP rumbler is a great a great value at $199. It doesn't get any more straight through than a bullet muffler in the I-pipe. If you want something a little more quiet, or plan on doing LT's and/or an offroad pipe in the future you can get the hooker or magnaflow for a little more. I've heard the magnaflow flows 1100 CFM, which is more than enough to support any future mods.

Loud=loudmouth or rumbler, but don't run them without cats.
Cheap/good=magnaflow, hooker
Best sounding=gmmg (which does work with CME, ) <-- edited, again.
All of these will flow adequately for you.

Agreed: I am very happy with my Hooker for under $300. It flows great and sounds good without being annoyingly loud for an everyday driver. Very similar to stock sound until you get on it with no rasp.

Try having a bullet or a chambered pipe welded into your I-pipe. All I have is a lid and had a sweet thunder welded into the I-pipe and it sounds great. That would be somewhere around $100 or so total.
