Default Symptoms of Throttle Sensor BAD?

My dads car, 2000z started surging and the idle is hung up sometimes at around 1000-1100 rpm. The computer is reading 10% throttle position at idle. Im thinking throttle position sensor is the problem but has anyone had dealings with this before and whats the price on one of these sensors?

Thanks
Jason

you can't clean a TPS.. the TPS will also not "really" effect hard idle. I would look more to a sticking IAC motor, TB blade, vacuum leak, etc

he said it was hanging up so i didnt know if that could be part of the issue for the hanging idle and 10% throttle it shows, taking the tb off and seeing if it does close all the way will show, or scan it with the ignition on, car off and make sure the throttle is shut, then open it all the wya, if it gives faulty reading, its the tps

i was meaning to clean the whole tb, build up in the iac could cause similar drivability issues, but not hte 10% throttle it shows, easy to start small and see though

I'm havin' a similar problem guys. Sometimes the car will idle around 800 like normal, and other times it'll idle around 14-freaking-00 rpms for the rest of the time I drive it throughout the day. There are also times the idle will "jump around", bouncing between sub-1000 to 11-1200 rpm's. It's really, REALLY annoying. Does this sound like the TPS, or should I check elsewhere?

That sounds about what my dads car was doing. His was only doing it when the car was hot under the hood. It idled normal when in drive but would shift later, but when put in Nuetral it would jump up to 1100rpm.
