Not when all the big trucks are putting out plumes and plumes of black smoke every time they think of accellerating. Kinda pisses me off that we have such a bottleneck on our **** when we have some very efficient engines, and yet those monsters are probably the worst polluters there is. I know that we outnumber them but, they should have some sort of restrictions on them. Just my rant.

I would like State of Illinois to do a study on how much pollution they're causing with the toll booths. I bet a ton of pollution could be eliminated if they'd stuck to there promise of getting rid of tolls after the initial cost was recouped. But that's whole other story.

LT headers is a stupid *** reason not being able to pass smog. Our world is going to **** as we speak, so some kind of restriction would be nice.

sorry, mang. Oklahoma may be boring, but they let us treat out little ladies right. Until some fruit in a green t-shirt tells us we can't anymore, that is. Gawd don't let that happen... please!

Emission checks by and large are overrated and can be used as another tool by government bureacrats. The nearest areas that do smog checks from here is Louisville, Ky. and from what I hear, the city is not achieving the desired results from smog checking cars along with running that reformulated crap gas that's supposed to burn cleaner but cut down on MPG. I remember several years ago dad filled up his 85 Accord that was carburated over there, and it ran like crap (rough running, poor throttle response)on that gas, and he's not a car guy who would notice the slightest change like we are. Atlanta, GA is another example. They've have fairly strict smog checks there for almost 20 years, and they too aren't seeing alot of benefit.
My area has a good number of coal burning power plants (Indiana has some of the cheapest electricity in the country) and no emission checks for cars. The whole state of Indiana only has emission checks in 4 counties and still meets air requirements. Alot of the Mustangs, Camaros, and trucks here don't have smog equipment. The air here is pretty clean and is always rated at "good" and sometimes "moderate" on stale hot summer days according to the Weather Channel. But recent scrubber upgrades on the power plants have yielded better air quality results and some have announced more upgrades in the near future, 100% sulfur dioxide scrubbing and 90% nitrogen oxide.
The largest source of pollution at least here is from the coal burning power plants. One station can generate far more pollution then a dealer lot full of T-Rex cammed LS1's at the drag strip.

I like for emission control to make sense. The biggest pollutors are industrial plants and power stations. I think the focus should be there.
Mississippi doesn't have testing. Not in my areas anyway.
