Not the Tstat!!
i replaced the Tstat and all coolant. The temp still goes up above 230 degrees could this be the water pump? And so how much am i looking at spending on a new water pump...??
is there a better way to completely flush system?
If it was the water pump I think you would see coolant leaking. I just replaced mine last month, $160 from NAPA auto parts for the pump that comes with GM gaskets. Easy job, only took about an hour.
You may still have air in the system. Run the car with the radiator cap off. The coolant level drops in the radiator when the tstat opens, when it does add more. Keep doing that until the fluid level does not drop.
I'd check the fans.
Stock are way up there and if (say) you lost the
low speed fan (relay, wiring, winding) then only the
high speed would remain, and that doesn't kick on
until 234F (while the low speed fans come in at a
much more pleasant 226F in the stock settings).
Losing the chin spoiler underneath will really mess
up your non-fans-running cooling airflow, too.

Check to see if u sucked up some trash under the bumper. My friend had this exact problem, and turned out to be some newspaper stuck to his radiator.
