what i did was drain the radiator.....took out old Tstat....undid the throttle body hose to let air out..put in new tstat....then added new coolant..till it dripped out of the throttle body hose....put hose back on filled radiator to proper level and checked resivior.....then cranked it and let it run and it still went over 230 degrees within like a 15 minute time frame. that is after my neighbor cam over cussin cause he said the exaust rattled his windows....lol
is there a better way to completely flush system?

Did you replace the radiator cap???? its only like $4... Once after installing new water pump and T stat, it would still start over heating.... called a friend and said the same thing happened to him... Try the Radiator cap....

did you check to see if your fans are coming on ?
If it was the water pump I think you would see coolant leaking. I just replaced mine last month, $160 from NAPA auto parts for the pump that comes with GM gaskets. Easy job, only took about an hour.

You may still have air in the system. Run the car with the radiator cap off. The coolant level drops in the radiator when the tstat opens, when it does add more. Keep doing that until the fluid level does not drop.

I'd check the fans.

What are your fan settings?

Stock are way up there and if (say) you lost the
low speed fan (relay, wiring, winding) then only the
high speed would remain, and that doesn't kick on
until 234F (while the low speed fans come in at a
much more pleasant 226F in the stock settings).

Losing the chin spoiler underneath will really mess
up your non-fans-running cooling airflow, too.

agreed, I just got a $160 napa special myself! I could tell my water pump was going on me cause the belt was wearing on the pulley unevenly and sure enough, I developed a leak.
Check to see if u sucked up some trash under the bumper. My friend had this exact problem, and turned out to be some newspaper stuck to his radiator.

I throughly cleaned the radiator days ago and keep a check on it fairly often....also I did SLPSS01 said and so far it has worked....maybe i just didnt get all the air out of the system.....I drove it to sonic for a meet of some friends and drove it around more than usual with a/c on full blast and temp never broke over 200.....I'll drive it tomorrow during the heat of the day and let ya'll know if it worked for sure. If so I'm prolly beach bound come my vacation the first week of June...haha...well I'll let ya'll know.
