Good choice, if the rasp bothers you a bullet in the I pipe will cut it down a little. I have one in mine but I kinda wish I'd gone the Borla XR-1 or Twister route cause it only made a small difference.

I actually just put on the magnaflow and surprisingly it is almost just as loud as the gmmg with my big cam. 10 people have come by or heard me and all agree it sounds as good if not better then the gmmg with my setup. I love both and you can't go wrong with gmmg.

so, basically, it doesn't serve the purpose of mellowing the exhaust sound going to a Magnaflow from GMMG, if you have a big cam ?

How's the idle when cold and warm ? When you did a cold start, did the exhaust sound like you just broke the sound barrier, as is the case with GMMG ?

How's the drone ? How is the sound different from GMMG at various speeds ?

Sorry about all the questions bro.. just trying to get an idea if it's worth switching ...

Thanks!

Alright well im gonna butt into this conversation lol. I got an 02 A4 SS and its bone stock except for an slp induction pack w/ ram air im gettin n installin this weekend... but other than that im saving up for JetHot LT's and most likely going to stick with getting a TSP cat-y, or a jethot catted y. My question to you guys is if i get GMMG or Corsa (which ill prefer the deeper sound with GMMG) my cat-y pipe should mellow down the rasp inside the car and help to lower a lil the such deep sound. I want my car to be really deep and nice sounding... i dont give a **** bout my neighbors lol they can complain all they want. But im eventually gonna get to putting on a Cut-off... is either of the too suitable to sound good after a cutoff as well? or does the cut-off make em sound worse???

One more thing to add too that. My SS also has center exhaust... ive noticed most catback's are setup for tips on each end of the car. Is there a way say if i buy a GMMG catback and get it to run out my center?

Is it possible to order the mufflex 4 inch exhaust with different tips? I'de really like to order the system with tips similar to the SLP dual/dual tips.

The "cut-out" bypasses the muffler altogether - sounds the same no matter what cat back you have. IMHO if you have a nice cat back (Corsa / GMMg) there is no need for a cut out. They flow almost as well as open exhaust and darn near as loud at WOT

Ok.. so my next ? that comes to mind. How am i suppose to get my car sounding just as close and deep, as to one having a cam and other engine work done to it. Because i don't know if i'll ever get a cam swap done to my engine. So would it be better to just go with a lower profile, less deep sounding like borla, and putting a cutoff on? Give me some ideas of good catbacks lower than GMMG & Corsa that sound good w/ cutoffs.

I have had TDs and now a GMMG. I prefer the sound of my GMMG better. I have QTP LTs and QTP offroad Y pipe.

4 inch exhaust? Not enough backpressure.

YOU NEED BACKPRESSURE. Now, you throw in NO CATS.. and you have a **** FLOWING SYSTEM.

Boys and girls.. bigger pipes with no backpressure equal ****.

Its like this:

Preched your lips like you are about to whistle.. NOW BLOW.. Alot of HARD air comes out.

Open your mouth alot and blow out.. Small wind comes out.. Why? no backpressure.

thank you thank you.. Elvis has left the building folks.. lol

BS, you never want backpressure. You are confusing that term with velocity. Anyways, a 4 inch pipe has less area than dual 3 inch pipes. You won't lose any power going this route.

I would factor in the magnaflow cat back for anyone looking to buy a system as well...I got my magnaflow new off of e-bay for $315 shipped. For the money and the sound I cant complain. It definately has its own sound and gets loud at wot. It sounds deep at idle while it lopes but screams up top. Its weird, seems to change totally different tones from deep to screaming when the rpms go from idle to 4000, then 4000-7000 screams like hell. Good luck with whatever you get though. Anyone done any dyno comparison from cat back to cat back systems on same car?

yea I am kinda curious to see what a magnaflow would sound like with LT's, ORY in person. I was thinking of running this a one point, but was kinda iffy about buying it and not having an idea on what it would sound like.....
