Would more than likely want to go with the LS6 if your going to spay on it , I heard the alum. intakes tend to hold heat and might cause detination.

LS6 is what you want, the alum will heat soak.

Ok, i know its a noob question but how hard is it to switch the LS1 Intake Manifold with the LS6 Intake? What all do you have to do and how long will it take? What settings do you have to change with the computer and what not after you finish bolting it on? Thanx

SLP makes one that will swap right over, but with the regular GM LS6 intake, you will have to block off 2 of the coolant passages at the back of the motor and !egr

I just installed a ls6 manifold a week ago, overall it was easy, just a little time consuming. You will need 2 rear coolant plugs and 1 front coolant pipe for the swap. It will be fine on the stock tune, but in order to get the most out if it, you would need a tune. Heres a good write up on how to do the swap http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=5

Best bang for your buck is a used LS6 intake. I luckily was able to take it a step further and found a used LSX

what for? so you can buy the used weiand for 450 bucks and pay 100-200 for porting, and then you're almost at the cost of a used FAST intake which is better for those setups anyhow. weiand is aluminum and therefor is susceptible to heat soak.

and if your not a idiot you can do a minor port as well which will flow better, all you need is to gasket match it.

Why not this? I think it flows much better then the Weiand, FAST, or LS6. Plus there is no heak soak, that only applies to intakes with coolant passages flowing through them (like LT1s and SBCs). Ours is very cool to the touch after a run down the 1/4 mile. Even at idle it doesn't get hot, probably as hot as the LS1/LS6.

more like 122,302,299 times.

bang for the buck = ls6 period.

check the FAQ for my intake manifold test.

and ls1charged check the results of a ported weiand against the ls6, then add the extra weight and heat soak potential of the aluminum. some bargain huh ...
