Default Question about Labor $$$

I'm new to LS1's and modding cars.

I was wondering is 100$'s for a cat-back to be installed a rip off? First quote I got around here.

100 seems about right I guess. Do it yourself though, it is very very easy to do. Save your self the money and put it towards more mods

I hear. I live in an apartment with literally zero tools.

But I figure I could save the money and buy the tools for future mods!

Any link/picture guide to doing a catback? I'd really love to do it myself just kinda nervous.

When I first bought my car (four years ago) the only mod I did for awhile was a cat-back. (loudmouth) I had a local midas do the install and was charged $100.

Check around. Sometimes a smaller shop may do it for cheap, especially with cash, since it takes them 30 minutes max.

I paid $50 cash to a local shop. $100 still isn't horrible though.

He'll need a sawzaw to make the job 100 times easier. Took about 30 min to do ourselves, just make sure you have a buddy helping you out.

$100 isn't bad, but you might find cheaper. Also check the southern sect, there might be another LS1tech member near you that could give you a hand...

If you're nervous about doing it and have zero tools, then why not spend the money to get a professional to do it? Even if it is a somewhat simple job to do. It might not be worth the money to replace it if you somehow mess it up.
Just my 2 cents.

Many apartment complexes get pissed off about people doing work on their cars there, so that's another thing to consider. I don't do more than top off fluids to avoid the risk of getting kicked out. So if you do want to do it yourself, it would be a good idea to do it at a friend's house (a friend who has tools, too ).
