gutting out my cats on 2000 z28/what i need to know?

Default gutting out my cats on 2000 z28/what i need to know?

if i gut these out will i need to do anything to the o2 sensors? eplace em? i think mine are goin bad, im gettng codes for them, p0135, po161,also readin p0420,and p0430 and p1133...so if i gut out my cats will i need simulators, i heard simulators dont work at all??lemme know guys....im hoping my cats arent clogged b/c of the 0420, and 0430 codes, but im thinking the 0135 and 0161 codes are making those gooff...lemme know if you know anything..thanks

i gutted the catts in my car about a year ago.(didnt use 02 sims). about 3 months later i threw a ses light, to be safe you should get a pair of 02 sims. never heard of them not working though...

yeah go ahead and gut them get out a tire iron and go to town .... then put some tape over the ses light haha lol

If your goal is to gain power you're wasting your time. I gutted the cats on my old 2000 WS6. I used to make 475 rwhp with nitrous through a cutout and stock manifolds and cats. When I gutted the cats, I took it back to the dyno. Result? 475 rwhp...same bottle pressure...same conditions. The cats aren't the choke point of the exhaust...it's the manifolds.

Now if you want to gut them for sound (which I think sounds like ***), then go ahead and do it. Just be prepared to buy O2 simulators for the rear sensors or have it tuned out. You will throw an SES light.
