open headers on stock engine
I think I may have to run like this to get to the exhaust shop
is there any downsides to this? could I burn up a valve on the way to the exhaust shop?
how do open headers sound on a stock LS1?
BTW reason for this is I rather install my longtubes then pay a shop 300 dollars to do it..
its a 12 mile drive btw

Yes, the engine will be physically fine. You will however run pig rish at idle because of skewed o2 sensor readings from outside air reversion. Not a big deal, and it will fix itself once you get exhaust on there.

Straight open headers do run extremely rich due to atmospheric air getting on the sensors though.

He was talking about burning up valves, and I answered that question. I made no mention of air-fuel ratios. The race car comparison was for the burt valve question. You are obviously correct about the A/F
