Default DO free mods really make any diff in hp?

i thought about doing the free mods on my 99 but i have heard u dont see any gains so i guess it wouldnt be worth my time. some other ppl claim to have got hp from it but i dont know. the only thing i have done is the free ram air. thats the only one i could see giving hp. the tb bypass and the egr doesnt seem like it would gain me anything. what are your opinions on this? thanks!

theoretically, they should but id agree with the FRA probably being the only one that would show noticeable gains.

the throttle body stop mod will show a slight gain if your throttle blade is not opening all the way.some are worse than others.

Throttle body bypass = cooler air. It cost me less than $5.

I'll put it to you this way...if you have the time, the free mods really can't hurt much. Don't expect to see much of anything from them though. You get what you pay for in this business...

Unless you are getting a tune. I have done a couple of the free mods. I have done the FRA (Free Ram Air), Bump Stop Mod. I never ported the MAF nor descreened it till I got my tune. Then I did the descreen MAF.

my maf was already descreened when i bought my car. Ive never had any problems with it. Dont really see how i could make much difference. Its a ximlpy a wire screen on back maf.... But, I personally wouldn't worry much about the free mods. I could see the benefit of the throttle body bypass, by keepin the tb cooler, but I dont know about the fra, it seems kinda risky. Watch out for driving through large puddles when its raining.

the MAF does not do anything except give more airflow. I have not had any problems with this except a slight gain, actually noticable. If you are worries about dirt or whatnot getting into the actual motor, the maf doesn't really protect against this anyways, and the back maf is always present too. It can't be bad if z06's dont have them right?

what the screen does is to "smooth out" the airflow before it's run across the wires of the MAF,and from the factory the MAF is calibrated with the screen in.once you pop the screen out,it can throw the calibration off.some cars show a gain, some don't.in my case,i gained a little above 4500 but below that power was down like 10hp.so i put a new one in and ditched the descreened one.the Z06 maf is calibrated from the factory without the screen, obviously.
