Default LT1 radiator on LS1 Camaro

So I found this LT1 radiator on eBay. Said for a
1993, auto / air. I got it today and I see this
sensor on there, wondering whether this is a
coolant temp sensor that I could use (with a
little electronic cobbling) to run hi/lo fans off
tank temp instead of a snap-action thermostat.

Anybody know what this "thingy" is? Better yet,
any info on its electrical characteristics w/ temp,
if it is in fact a temp sender? I have zero info on
LT1 era cars.
