Default apparently i'm retarded

I went to install my slp lid today on my 01 ss. well i was just following the directions...got out the whole stock intake assembly. I went to separate the maf from the stock lid and baffles..and it wouldn't come off. it would twist a little to each side and the clamp was as loose as possible, but the maf wouldn't separate from the lid? is there a trick to it? I didn't want to force it and break something.

I used a friend. lol I had him hold the lid while I pulled and twisted the MAF free. If you are friendless at the moment, you could try sitting on the edge of a chair or bench, placing the assembly between your legs with the MAF side towards you and the edges of the lid under each leg and pulling/twisting it out. Be careful using any screwdrivers and such. It's very easy to damage the MAF and MAF screen (if you still have one).

There's actually a little notch on the side that is perfect for prying with a large flathead screwdriver. Don't worry, I doubt that you'll damage anything.

Use a hairdryer, get the outer plastic really warm, then it will come right out.

You can also try a hair dryer to heat up the plastic, helps a little.

I used the, "hold lid between my legs and pull on the MAF" method when I separated my MAF and lid. It feels like it wont come out but if you pull hard enough it will come loose.

Like the other 2 said above... hairdryer will work like a charm... get it warm and it will come apart very easily.

I was holding it between my legs and thought that I would hit myself in the face, like already said Then I decided to get a screwdriver and pry it out, much easier.

Rather than pry at it, I think it's better if you use the notch with a wide head screwdriver and twist the screwdriver. This seemed to work great, and you don't have to put the screwdriver between the plastic and MAF. This way you don't scratch up the MAF.

Yeah... This was my technique, too. I put it between my legs, held my breath, and starting shaking around like a pager or a celly vibrating across a table.

I thought I was gonna tear a ******** when it finally came loose. I fucked up my fingers... Yeah, that was the stupid way!

Umm ... watching out for body parts (especially Big Jim and the twins, Neil and Bob) should be a given in any activity.
