Default Magnaflow with Chambered Tips

Has anyone put chambered mufflers on their exhaust pipes comming out of the muffler? I was wondering if this would add a little bit of a gmmg-like rumble to the exhaust note. The magnaflow is nice and deep, but I would like more of a throaty rumble. I would do a chambered muffler in the I-pipe, but I don't think anyone makes one with a 3" id.

I guess there aren't any chambered mufflers small enough.

If they're in-line with your tips, right off of the muffler, then all he'll need is a 2.5" with 2.5" ID. This sounds like a damn good idea too. I might try it. They're pretty heavy though, so I may need to tack weld some the slip connections into the muffler. They're in Cadillac, MI too. So I could have them by Saturday. Hmmm...

Not if he puts it in the "pipes coming out of the muffler". They should only be 2.5". Now the I pipe is a different story.

Perfect....thanks, thats just what I wanted to know. How much difference in sound do you guys think a six inch sweet thunder on each tailpipe would make? I'm tempted to give it a try. It seems like it would have the deep magnaflow sound, with a little more throaty rumble. It would be a lot cheaper than scrapping the magnaflow for a gmmg.

I would take measurements and fit the longest muffler you can in the tailpipes. 6 inches will definately make a difference, but probably not as big of a difference that you are looking for. I would shoot for at least 8" or 9" if not more if you can fit it.

I might be able to fit 8" per side, I'll have to take some more measurements. Have you ever heard a car with the sweet chambers after the muffler by any chance? I wish I knew of someone thats done this before....it's kind of an expensive experiment. Sometimes I can be pretty impulsive LOL.....I just might have to give it a shot.

I have never heard of this before, but I'm guessing it would sound awesome.

I called sweet thunder this morning. The guy I spoke with was honest, and said that it probably wouldn't make a very big sound difference with the chambers after the muffler. He said it would be best to put a sweet thunder in the I-pipe. The largest chambers they come with are 2.5" though, so this is out of the question. He said they couldn't make a 3" chamber without buying some new equipment, and it would be expensive. He say's there just isn't enough demand for 3" sweet thunders to be worth it for them. Well....I guess I'll have to wait for a good price on a used GMMG.
