It really, really can if you don't have a good muffler. Y-pipes just don't sound good in general, removing the cats lets an awful lot of rasp/etc get through. Cats can help the sound quite a bit.
exhaust has been my toughest decision, as i bet it is with everyone. I want the TD muscular sound, but not the cabin rattling noise and possible ticket from the DFW cops. and if I went with an ORY, i'd want muscular tone, no rasp or drone and want it to sound really good, but not eat my wallet.
Pretty much i want something that the Mustang's can be jealous of...
I think im leaning towards the Hooker LT's with some ORY and Hooker Catback. have heard good things about it.

I'd suggest the GMMG with a catted Y-pipe but duals sound better and are cheaper.
Someone suggested Borla XR-1's werent as loud as Sweet thunders or bullets, I think im gonna run Lanes True duals, X or H pipe(havent decided) with that muffler.
I wish i could go with GMMG chambered...

****, I think my old school bus exhaust sounds badass. I like it sounding like a 60's dumptruck. If you don't like it, perhaps you can treat urself to the smooth sound of a swarm of bumblebees emitting from a 6" coffee can sticking out of the back of a mid-eighties civic.

One of my friends had the MACs w/ ORY and it sounded like major **** through her Corsa. She changed to LTs and new Y and it sounds like a whole new car. Maybe if you got a set of LTs w/ a decent Y it wouldn't sound so bad.
I admit mine sounds like a bus when at part throttle between like 1200 - 2000 rpms w/ the cutout open. W/ the cutout shut it's plenty deep and mean. However cutout open + WOT = badass. I love hearing the sound ricochet off cars that I'm passing while at WOT.

email sent :-) post the link for the non believers. The "compliment" i get the most is it sounds like a new stang. And i also get that from stang owners... dunno if thats a good thing, but I think it sound perfect.
