LS1 Vacuum Pump How To? Here you go...
I recently sold my vacuum pump setup from my race car and was asked to post the parts list for all the pieces I used. I figured I might as well post this in the external section so it might be archived here for others to research. Below is a list of the parts I used with current retail prices, like from Jegs etc..I'm sure there is better and or cheaper ways to do a vacuum pump but here's the way I did it:

Here are 2 pics of the pump with GM smog pump pulley installed. Its best to use this pulley because it will bolt directly to the vacuum pump, but the pulley uses a same style belt that the AC compressor uses. You don't have to worry about your crank pulley trying to run a skinny V-belt.

This next pic is the vacuum pump bracket I made. I used some simple flat steel and welded it together. It took an extra set of hands to hold the pump up the LS1 block to mark where to put this bracket together and drill the holes. I chose to use the holes that the AC Condensor and pulley use, this bracket has to be heavy duty because the vacuum has a little weight to it.

Here is a pic of the Moroso vacuum pump bolted to my bracket.

And finally here is the pump+bracket with the -12AN hoses. The top AN fitting in the inlet for the pump and the bottom AN fitting is the outlet to the oil tank. Because I chose to use the Moroso mounting kit there wasn't many ways you could turn the vacuum pump. I ended up using a 120* AN hose end for the outlet hose to the oil can. The inlet hose uses a 45* hose end on the pump side and 90* hose end on the valve cover side.

For the valve covers your going to need to drill one of them and mount a -12AN Vented Air Inlet Fitting. The other valve cover will need to be drilled to mount the vacuum relief valve and vacuum nipple for the vacuum guage, see pic below:

I think thats about it...on a difficulty scale 1-10 I would rate this an 8, well its an 8 if you go into this blind like I did and had to figure everything out as you go. Honestly the hardest part besides gathering all the crap needed was building the bracket for the pump. If you have a motor plate it would be a piece of cake, but without one the fabricating will be difficult for the average schmo.
I hope this makes sense to ya'll and you can use some of this information.
