Default Someone please convince me on header Y vs. header x

Ok.......i am getting some LT's in the next couple of days, and i really want to go with SLP. I have owned a couple F-bodies over the last 5 years and SLP has always been like a parent to me so its hard to not go with them. However, after doing the research, im willing to be swayed. SLP headers are really expensive, but i do beleive the quality is there. If not them, im looking into Jet Hot's, or Pace Setter. About Pace Stter, do they have good quality? How do they sound w/ the whole package from TSP and w/ Loud Mouth? Is there any noticable "seat of the pants" gain? I only know 1 other person who got non-SLP headers....Flowtech....and i was immidiately turned off, no offense Flowtech guys. Anyway, just wondering if you guys wouldnt mind taking a minute to help me out on this one and convince me to save 600 bucks......

Oh yeah i know this is newbie stuff, but I only ever looked into SLP. I learned about Pace Seter when i joined here. Thanks in advance.....

Well there are quite a few different brands that r better than SLP. If u want the absolute best then go with Kooks or QTP. they cost bout the same as SLP without any issues, unlike SLP. Im not bashin SLP cause i have some of their parts too, but as far as their LT's go, their not worth the money. Too many people have ground clearance issues. If u wanna save money get the Pacesetter LT's. There are many f-body owners on here that will stand by Pacesetters quality & performance. Or u could always get a set of JetHot ceramic coated Stainless. It really comes down to what u want. All the headers i listed are very good quality & provide about the same HP gains just different prices.

SLP LT's have been known to have ground clearance issues - especially with lowered cars - if you are looking into stainless steel headers check out kooks or QTP

my pacesetters work quite well for me but you'll get rasp with any longtube and the Loudmouth - You'll want to replace the resonator with a Borla XR-1 or a Dynomax Bullet and cats would also be a good idea if you want zero rasp

There are Hooker stainless steel headers as well, they can be had for about 650$ at www.tbyrne.com

I found this package from TSP......$700 for the ceramic coated Pace Setter LT's, high flow cats, and Y pipe. Great deal, but it sounds too good to be true. Thats the main reason i was questiong Pace Setter. For that cheap, whats the quality? I shouldnt question though, considering all you fellas back them. If these headers are as good as everyone says, and for that price, i think i am sold. I just hope i can still get a good sticker with them. Thats why the cats are important.

Oh yeah....couldnt someone just use the SLP Loudmouth 2 resonator istead of a dynamouth bullet muffler? just wondering.

i believe the loudmouth II is a dynomouth - or an equivalent
that muffler would work the same way as a dynomax bullet
someone correct me if i'm wrong

The new LM II is pretty much a dynomouth. The package from TSP is unbeatable and I personally would go with that to avoid the clearance issues with SLP.

Yeah that is a great deal.

I figured that SLP LM II was the same thing. Ill probably pick it up.....I guess the LT's w/ cats and y pipe and LM 1 is too loud. Oh well, i have a daily driver, so maybe ill like the noise if im not around it too much.
