Y pipe padding?

Actually, I had to really push. If I remember correctly, I think that I had to put a floor jack under it to push/hold it up while I fit the screws in. Honestly, the only reason I did it was to hold the y-pipe securely.

But, I recently high-centered the car over a curb (damn thing was sticking halfway out into a parking lot). It ripped the passenger side of the y-pipe off the header collector, broke the mount on the muffler, and loosened everything up. Luckily, with that crossbrace in there, I was able to drive to an exhaust shop with everything hanging down. It actually held it up off the ground.

I took mine off when I put on ORY. The way that I look at it is if i can bend it with my hand, its not strengthening anything. If anything your y-pipe could vibrate against it and cause false knock and then retard your timing.
