How do you remove AC canister?
. If you take it off for any length of time it may become useless. The dryer part, I hear, is dessicant just like those little bags you find inside the boxes of electrical equipment. It sucks up moisture from the atmosphere and swells. If it swells too much it can break the container it's in and flood your system with particles. At least, that's what I've read. And even if it doesn't swell and break it will become contaminted with moisture and become less effective. This will be largely negated if you get a good reclamation/recharge.
At minimum, you'll need to plug or block off the tubes to minimize the problem. Then you'll need to get your system reclaimed/recharged. That will pull a lot of the moisture out. A flush is always good. If you decide to buy one and polish it and then replace the old one, add an oz. of refrigerant oil before you put it on.
