Hooker ORY 2 pieces?
Hooker ORY 2 pieces? I'm going to be installing my Pacesetter LT's and Hooker ORY this weekend. Just received the ORY the other day and it comes in two pieces? It has the main larger piece, and then about a 9" long section of pipe for the driver side. Is this included for different header applications? It appears that I do need this to make it mate to the Pacesetters, but why not just make it one piece?
You can change the position of the outlet of the y pipe by slideing together more or pulling apart if that makes sence. Slide the 2 pieces together and mount the I pipe before clamping or welding. I welded mine so its one piece now. Mine's a kooks btw.
The reason it is in two pieces is due to the driver's side header collector pointing out (the driver's side) and back from the engine, while the passenger's side header collector points straight back. If it was one piece, customer would be complaining that the Y-pipe would not fit, so for ease of installation they made it a two piece design. Luckily you can also adjust the clearance on the driver's side pipe to avoid any banging or bottoming out on speed bumps. First install the short section onto the header, then install the Y-pipe. Position to your liking and tighten the clamps.
