Default True duals with Flowmaster 40 series?

People on the Ford side seem to love this setup, but I never hear much about it here. How come it's not more popular on ls1s? I've never heard it myself, which is why I'm curious.

Because the Mustangs come with factory dual exhaust. You have to have custom true duals made for the LS1 cars. I had 3" TD's on my '02 Z-28 and had 1-chamber Flowmasters and it was the best sounding exhaust I've heard. It'd make the Mustang guys jealous that's for sure.

You'll have to do alot of 'clearancing' to get those mufflers to fit, and have any kind of ground clearance..

I could clear speed bumps with myself in the car, but if I had a passenger, the right side would scrape a little. You could hammer under the back seats to make some more room and it wouldn't be noticable since the seat bottoms would be covering up the areas you use clearance a little.

plus flowmasters sound completely different on a 4.6 stang 4V mustang than an LS1...mustangs sound nasty with that setup and i believe the best setup for the LS1 is true duals usig sweet thunder mufflers. theres a clip somewhere..it sounds fukin disgusting (in a good way of course)

I'm wanting to hear the sweet thunders in person so I can decide which I'll go with. From what everyone says, they sound badass. But it'd be hard to beat the 1-chamber Flow's I had IMO.

Thats what I have a good mind to do to mine. I was gonna make me a dual h pipe with some 40 series andput them there.

Wit the floorpans beat in like that will the seat bottom still lay flat? Not that it really matters because nobody ever rides in my back seat.

I can't find any sound clips of this setup anywhere. There were none on Ls1sounds.

IMO, Twisters sound very similar to any Flowmaster setup I've ever done - without the clearance issues. Flow better too.

And yes, the rear seats look and feel pretty much the same - even with the floor-boards 'clearanced'.

Anyone else have comments on this?

Thanks,

I didn't have to beat mine at all, and still had a good amount of ground clearance.

Just a personal preference thing, but you'd have to be in my shoes to understand why it would bother me...

I have that setup in my 85 and I love it.Its no ls1 but they fit the same. Didnt have my floor boards bet in . I dumped them before the axle and they do scrape if the car comes close to botteming out.

Id never do it either, especially for a muffler that will quench power and eliminate the benefit of true duels. I guess its the sound they are after, to each their own, not every one is out for all out power. I run bullits, but sound deadened my floor and it has no drone rattling things at all.
