Should I use u bolt clamps from tsp y or throw them away and buy
band clamps? I don't see them on any installation here.
Does the rtv go inside the joint ,outside or both?.
thanks for any reply

U bolts are basically crap. They will work though, but I went ahead and bought some nice band clamps. They were pretty expensive, but I feel that it was worth it.

Agreed, i bought stainless band clamps for my hole exhaust system. I dont like u-clamps becuase they crush the metal and make removal a biatch. I spent about $40 canadian on band clamps, i just picked them up at a freightliner dealer thats close by

rtv the joints? on the exhaust? i didn't think rtv would hold up, unless you get the orange'ish high temp stuff? Would that stuff seal up exhaust pipes? I have some slack on my pipes...i figured I'd have to weld, but I can get high temp rtv...wonder if that'll work...and hopefully not blow out!

Band clamps are the way to go because they don't crush in the pipe to when you take it off it won't come apart
