I had the same experience. I put an autozone pump on mine with a good warranty just in case and never had a problem up to the day I sold my car. Its is really your decision

Thanks
there is a big difference in cost between the GM replacement part
and the autozone/ advance auto part almost double the cost

I bougth the GM one and it was junk in less than a year. There is another company that sells new aftermarket pumps for racing. When I bought mine last year it was about $185 I think.

PM me if you want more info.

Don't want to start another thread so close, so I'll jump in this one. I was autocrossing yesterday and after coming out of a 180 pretty hard I lost power steering completely. I thought maybe I boiled the fluid or ran dry, but neither is the case and it has not come back, so I guess the pump has failed. I was talking to another guy there with a Z28 and he told me about the Turn One pumps. It looks like they run about $230. So two questions. First, does it really sound like a pump failure, consensus seems to be yes. Second, since I plan on autocrossing the car again, should I get the Turn One pump or a stock equivalent one and get an underdrive pulley on it so that it doesn't repeat. Any advice is helpful.
