Default How do I get my oil fill neck out of the valve cover?

I don't want to break anything, but the SOB is not budging. Jesus I've done H/C by my self and I can't get this piece of plastic out of a hole. Let me know if there is a simple way to twist, lift, pull or something.

Thanks in advance.

It twist off to the left like the oil fill cap.I know the're a pain sometimes. There's a long thread around here somewhere about taking it off.You just have to put some muscle in it.

NO, its not that simple. you have to take the valve cover off so you can press a lock piece of plastic that prevents it from twisting, this is done with a 90 degree pointed needle like screwdriver.....

So the locking mechanism is just to keep it from twisting?

I've only taken off 3 and never had to remove the cover. If you give it steady pressure it will twist off without breaking the plastic, even though its still hard to get off.

Good luck on that one, I does lock in place, at least my '01 does. I tried using a small screwdriver like what was mentioned above and I still broke the damn thing. If you do I know all the dealers around here as well as GMpartsdirect said it was a special order part and it took about 2 1/2 weeks to get a new one.

Mines a 98,so was the other 2.I'm not sure if they're different because of the 98's having perimeter bolt heads/covers,but they could be.
