Anyone have any part numbers for the bottom ones from Jegs or Summit? I need some for my Pacesetter long tubes and TSP off road y pipe. The exaust shop that welded up my y-pipe only had plain 3" clamps, and the headers leak like crazy. They told me I could just weld them to the y-pipe, but I dont like that idea.

I always had that same problem until I swictched and now use an air impact gun for tightening. I could never get them tight enough laying on my back, even using a breaker bar..

if my collectors are 3in and my duals are 3in.. would i just make them touch each other (not overlap) and then put the flat band clamp over them? or would it be wiser to expand the exhaust pipes to slide over the collectors then put the clamps on?

Update. I got the preformed clamps on my car now.

You just slide the clamp down until it stops. It will stop when the expanded pipe makes contact with the smaller diameter of the clamp. From there you tighten it down. I just used a regular box end wrench to tighten it down. There was no need to tighten the **** out of it to get it to work right since it was already preformed. The proce was really not any more for the preformed ones so there is reall no since in not buying them unless you are butting 2 same size pipes.

Again, I Have had both styles and they are both the exact same clamp, but the preformed one has already been formed to hook an id to od pipe.

I bought the flat ones, and I tightened them as much as they can until both parts of the end are touching. The bolt can't turn anymore. Even after all that tigthening, and it was a lot, I can't believe how much it leaks.I will try the preformed ones, and if those can't seal, I will just have my exhaust shop weld my headers to my y-pipe. Anyone have a quick link of were to get the top ones from. I bought the bottom ones from the summit ebay link that that person posted a couple of threads ago.

I had to use black RTV with mine. No matter how tight I got them, the bitches would leak. One tube of RTV later - no leaks.

I have had the flat ones also. Let me bump this thread up again for anyone who is about to buy clamps. The preformed fits nice.

How would you use the RTV. Would you put it all over the band clamb, then slide the clamp on the exhaust pipe, and then tighten it down?

Mine are flat and even with the copper rtv it leaks, maybe a whole tube is needed I think if the pipes are slip fitted correctly the stepped one, but if its a "custom" job the flat ones.

I have used the ones from NAPA like the bottom ones and they're pricey, but, wouldn't buy any other kind. They work great. The bottom picture is the clamp you want to use.

the clamps are less than 12 bucks. its not the cheapest thing, but less expensive than welding at a shop, and it allows you to remove it with less effort.

... should fit like a glove if you got the right size and torque the **** out of 'em. I sealed up my entire exhaust with them ... leak-free.
