Default which band clamps to get? (pics)

i have some pacesetters (3in collectors) and will be getting some true duals. i think we're going to do 3in duals into a 3in xpipe then dumped b4 the axle. which band clamps would work best? i imagine we're going to flare the 3in duals to slip over the header collectors.

one is from jegs, other is from summit

both those clamps are pretty much the same, except the first pic is just showing how it contours to the pipe after time once you tighten them down. , you can get those at napa.

Go with the top one. I got some just like that from jegs. They were really nice and worth the money.

I've used both and I prefer the bottom ones. I've had a few cases where the tops one didnt seal to the larger diameter pipe because the clamp is already 'expanded' to fit over the larger pipe.

The bottom ones have always fit excellent and seem to give a tighter seal.

Go with the bottom, it will conform when you tighten it.

The top pic isn't the same as the bottom one. It's made with the step design before it's put on. I agree with the others, it doesn't seem to fit as tight due to the pre-formed design. Buy the flat one.

i vote for the bottom one in all situations except where it dont work.
i actually couldnt get one to seal on my custom y pipe, and the jegs (formed) clamp worked great.
good luck with either, you cant go wrong.

Well I have used the flat ones and dont like them because the expanded part of the pipe holds the band off of the smaller part of the pipe.

I have some of the top ones on order. I will try and post back to tell everyone how they work. If they dont work any better than the flat oones then I will be welding me a 3 bolt flange in place of the slip fit joints.

My Kooks ORY came with the top design...FWIW, I've had no problems.

Top one. Works fantastic, look great , no leaks. The bottom one is only if you butt two pipes together. If you get the right size the top on "conforms" as it should when you tighten the clamp.

I think either one would work. Personally I'd go with the bottom. You should be able to get a better seal with the bottom one.

The bottom ones are the walker heavy duties, I think they're the best and you don't need to hold the other side with a second wrench.
