Default Cutouts Open All The Time?

I'm planning on putting dual cutouts into my TD exhaust system, and I was just wondering if there are any disadvantages to running the cutouts open all the time?

I never capped my cutout since I got it some years ago. However I took it off to install the TSP rumbler, which Im glad I did, since with the stall it would be too loud and would get me more law enforcement attention than what I was getting.

Cops don't mind here about anything. I like my True duals. I did loose power down low (reason for stall and gears ) but I gained a hell of alot of power up top it seems like.

I run dual cutouts on the y-pipe all the time. I have been doing so since February. It's a rarity if I ever cap it up and only do when it is raining, because I cannot enjoy it (cruising wise). There is absolutely no disadvantage to doing this. I've also not been bothered by the cops with it (knock on wood).

Just thought of this... why would you want to run dual cutouts when you have true duals? For the extra top-end power?

Long tubes, ORY and I bypass my Flowmaster by means of the cutout, and I leave it open 99.9% of the time. Got pulled over once for being to damn loud and now I'm a little more careful where I floor it.

Electric cutouts are the way to go. No crawling under the car to open or close them. If the cops roll up behind you, just tap the switch and you are nice and quiet.

About the only time I close mine is if it is raining or hot outside and I have to roll up the windows. Or if I have a passenger who wants to talk. Also around cops, duh. Other than that it's open all the time.

Cheap bastard.

Just kidding.
Yea, they can be pricey. Mine ran about $230 for everything, so twin cutouts would be twice that or so. I still say that at least one would be worth it.

cant you just get the cutout welded in and then do the electric cutout part yourself, you can just take the electric cap off and then run the wires and all that yourself.

the dyno numbers in my sig were with the cutouts open. i have dual cutouts on my ypipe right behind my headers. on that dyno, the cutouts open versus being closed gained me 15 horsepower over my loudmouth catback. i thought that was a good enough reason to justify how loud they are.

I've considered the same thing, adamp.

Getting TSP TD's installed next week, and I think I'm going to have two cutouts welded into the pipe up close to the headers, so I can be extra loud when I want.

Where are you getting your cutouts?

BTW: The big version of the pic in your signature is my background. Beautiful car.

if you are doing a cut out a electic cutout is def, the only way to go, Screw climbing under the car everytime to open or close the dump, It took me only 2 day's of climbing under the car to buy the electric dump

Eh, different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I'm likely going with the $30 manual cutouts from JEG's and spending the other $300+ I save on an LS6 intake.

I have no problem sliding under the car (twice in my case!) if it saves me that much cash.
