Default Cut out question about TA

Is it bad to be a daily driver with the cutout open constantly (no backpressure)?

I've been wondering the same thing. I have an electric-cutout but it hasnt been wired yet, so I've been driving with it open for a few months now...

Thumbs up

I have asked that to 3-4 different people, and they all say:NO---1 is a friend who is my mechanic who works at local GM DEALER... you may lose a little low-end torque........

I would say no unless you have some kind of forced induction then it would almost be too loud for a daily driver, but some people like loud all the time. don't know if any damage would occur from keeping it open all the time, except harrasment from the cops.

As NHRAMAN said, you may lose a *tad* bit of torque down low, but you'll pick up a little up top. I always ran with my cutout wide open until I got the cam and headers. Too obnoxious to do so, so I have two washers between the plate and the cutout.

A cut out on an otherwise stock car isnt that loud, and itll increase your MPG a tad too, i run a cut out on mine w/no cats either and its loud, and i can tell i've lost some low end torque, but it more than makes up for it past 3k

I run my car cutout open all the time. I have been doing so for close to a year and have never been pulled over. I believe my saving grace is the six speed your right foot controls the volume with the cutout open. With my particular setup as long as it's under 2500rpms it's not .. too bad. Once you get above that things start to get a little bit rediculous At least thats what my gf says.

You loose no low end torque with an open cutout. All the dyno graphs prove it. You get enuff back pressure from the y pipe.

I'd have to say for a stock car with a cutout my car is pretty damn loud, even at idle. Although it isnt ridiculous it is gonna cause problems if i keep leaving for work at 5:30 am. When you open uo the throttle is when it gets real loud.

I run my cutout open all the time, even with LT's and no cats. Also, since you have a A4, the RPM's are low most the time driving so the car won't be as loud driving around compared to the M6 guys. Just my experience hearing different setups on a A4 compared to the M6. But either way, when you get on it, you'll turn alot of heads...

2100 RPMS suck with a cutout, it is a loud drone that seemingly comes out of nowhere because ti isnt there at 2000 and it isnt there at 2200. But thats cruise speed in 4th gear when your in traffic that moves. **** starts to rattle bad at that RPM as well, like that plastic **** at the shifter, a4 guys need boots too.
