Default what does exhaust hitting the floor sound or feel like?

this may be a stupid question but ive never really experienced it before. what does the exhaust hitting the floor feel like. i have a custom true dual setup on my car and its tucked up really high. very very close. and i think it might be hitting now, only at a low rmp when theres a lot of torque on the enigne. explained- when i was backing onto a main street i had to hurry so i was still rolling in reverse a little when i started to go into first and it was on a turn out of the driveway. it kinda felt like a thumping or wheel hop but i know the wheels wouldnt be hopping, i was going very slow. can you guys help or give some hints to what it might be?

if it happens you will know. it will vibrate every thing. It sounds like your having the same problem. mine happened at low rmp's only.
I had it for about 2 weeks after lt install but went away on its own

I have the same thing going on...not sure if it's my y-pipe or a tranny mount.

yea i dont get it. everything is fine, except for the low rpm pull aways. i think if it was a tranny mount i would have dropped the trans hah. put it though the paces tonight so im not sure.

by the way, looking at your times, if you get that 60' to something like a 2.0 your going to hit 12s. tough on the 245s

Yea, looking forward to getting new rims and tires. That was also my first time at the track and I only got 3 passes I think. I'm getting some 10 spokes this weekend with 275's, and then hopefully some DR's soon.

Yea, 10 bolt will be there for a while. I was thinking of going with Nitto's, not sure when yet, it'll be as my bank account sees fit.

I believe what you are feeling is the rear transmission mount. Ususally felt when you put the car in gear to go forward. It's inexpensive, and a quick fix. $15 for the mount, and about 20 minutes.

It's not a stupid question...You can do a visual from under the car. Look towards the tail of the tranny. You'll need the car in the air to really see it. When the car goes into gear (especially A4 cars), the torque from the motor makes the rear of the tranny jump up and hit under the console. It'll do it every gear, if your foot's in it. There are 2 15mm nuts you can, but will need an extension to get to. Support the rear of the tranny to take the load off of it, and roll the mount out. It's just a large rubber mass that breaks down, especially if you drive "sportingly" .

the vibration will usually happen at low rpm and sometimes idle. it sounds like penies rattling on metal

If it's your exhaust, you should be able to grab it and yank it around if it's that loose. When the tranny mount is bad, the tailshaft is moving up and down--mainly up when under acceleration. When you let up on the throttle, it will drop back down because of lack of torque. You can feel it tapping under the console, and sometimes it will "tap" pretty damn hard. Don't let it go too long, because it can put more stress on your U-joints and input shaft.

I had this problem in my car. At low rpms the y-pipe would bang up against the floorboard pretty much under the driver seat. It was an easy fix by jamming heaterhose between the pipe and the floorboard.
