Default cats?

I noticed that I have an annoying raspy sound around 2200 rpms. My car has MAC headers and ORY. I was just wondering if I put some catalytic converters on if it would help delete the rasp sound? If so, do I need to just get another y-pipe or can I somehow make the one I have now work by just adding some cats?

Cats will cut almost all rasp but they will not cut the drone too much. I would think you can keep your Y and just install the cats there.

I am running QTP headers, catted Y and GMMG and I think it's still too loud. I will install a XR-1 on the I pipe to get rid of the drone.

I believe performance loss will be minimal.

Cats should eliminate rasp, and cut down drone considerably (depending on your muffler).

What type of muffler you have will make all the difference in the world with drone.

A dynomax bullet muffler can help with rasp, but won't eliminate it. Cats are your best bet.

Most people go with cats to get rid of rasp.
