Default GMMG or cutout...

I put on Kooks LT's and Kooks CYP but still have the stock SS catback. I really like how it sounds...quiet@idle but loud(IMO)@WOT. I just want to have all the possible bolt ons done before I cammed it. But it seems to me that $700 for maybe a gain of 10WHP isn't worth it. Should I just get a cutout or spend $700 in a GMMG catback? Would it be too loud w/ the GMMG?
What gains should I expect w/the GMMG over the stock SS catback?

If you're getting a cam later on, don't get the GMMG right now. See how it sounds with your current setup. With the GMMG things get LOUDER -- very nice sound, but LOUD.

Read this post - that's how I did get around the problem.

Yeah, GMMG will make your car loud as *****. A cut out will too, but you have the option of capping it when you need to. Then again, the GMMG sounds soo goood.

Get an electrionic cutout, it's only loud when you want it, and you'll save money for other mods.

Man that's a tuff one. No if money is a issue get a cut-out. But if not get a GMMG. They sound sick with header's and a cam. Pure Music.

i dont have headers or an ory yet but i love the sound of my gmmg, IMO cut outs sound like crap on these cars, the gmmg isnt loud at idle just rumbly but at WOT thats a diffrent story, someone i go to school with can hear my car when i pull out of my neighbor hood and nail it almost every day, btw he livs 2 subdivisons away

why dont you do both, get the cutout right now and see how you like it get the cam installed and it you still want the GMMG then get it. and i heard cutouts sound really good on our cars just go to http://www.ls1sounds.com and check cutout and GMMG out.

As several guys have been saying, this is the deal with the GMMG ... quiet and deep at idle, quiet at cruise, but progressively louder as the throttle opens. Great sound, but sometimes it can be a bit much for daily driving. IMO, it was perfect with the stock set-up, but since I installed a stall converter, it borders on over the top loud.

I love my GMMG sounds awesome nice and rumbly at idle, but then again the rest of my exhaust is stock. If you have the money go for it, if not get the cutout, youll have the option of when you want it loud.

I went to GMMG from a funky turbo muffler of some kind that the previous owner had put on, and the difference was pretty dramatic. Had a huge gain on my next trip to the track, but there were other factors involved. It'd probably be less dramatic with an SS catback.

10 to 15 hp if you have a high flow air cleaner, lid, volant CAI, etc. If not, maybe 5 hp.

There won't be lots of gains found in a catback. As you probably know, if you want to make power, you should look closer to the engine to get it, as you have done with your LTs etc

If I were you, this is the rotue I would take. Keep the stock catback, get two cutouts (any brand will do), and two of these http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/QTEC/

Electric cutouts really are the best of both worlds, and you will save a good chunk of change going that rotue, and it will benefit you later on as well when you are making even more power
