I have had both the Harlan and Raptor shift lights. I sold the harlan light a while ago on here. I went with the Raptor in the end. Its an awesome light, really easy to install and program. Definitely go with the Raptor light.

I don't personally have a shift light but, I have heard good things about the raptor shift light and I don't believe it requires any pills. As for wiring all of it up with a-pillar gauges maybe some one else can chime in.

As for the guages, I like the Auto Meter Cobalt series. I have a Cobalt tach. It lights up clear but its easy on the eyes at night and very accurate. Gonna spend some $ on them, but might as well, ya get what ya pay for.

I'm running the Harlan shift light with oil temp and A/f gauges. it's a perfect setup, but tehe A/f gauge is worthless.

It all depends on what pieces you buy. I have a proform shift light. It's very cheap and flickers at idle. It does the job of a shift light though.

Check out autometer gauges. Some of them are pricey but very nice. You can find a handful of their stuff over on ebay as well. I'll be going with these when I decide which ones I want on the a-pillar. As of right now I have a Harlan shift light. It's very nice and quite discrete.

I would highly suggest the Stewart Warner digital tach w/ the shiftlight built in. On my '90GT I have a 3-gauge pillar pod with the AutoMeter Phantom Series water temp. and oil pressure gauges along with the Stewart Warner digital tach w/ the shiftlight built in. It is awesome an awesome set up. The Stewart Warner tach doesn't look like a shift light until it lights up and no pill is needed. The tach will go up to 13k RPM and the shift light can be set for any RPM and there are five brightness settings because the shiftlight is comprised of 9 LED's and they are bright as all get out. Also if you want to match your setup there are 3 colors available for the shiftlight, blue, red, and amber(yellow). Summit Racing sells both the Stewart Warner digital tach's w/ the built in shift light and the Autometer Phantom series gauges. Stewart Warner refers to them as the Gauge Ultra Shift Light(GUS).

Here they are from Summit

Here is a link to Stewart Warner

I hope I helped you out some. Sorry for the long reply, I just get excited because I like that shiftlight. It makes for a clean installation and appearance. Good luck.

Got my raptor for 85$. Works great, you can adjust what rpm sets it off very easily - no pills required. Its pretty small, check their website for dimensions.

If you wanna be even more descreet, I've heard of people mounting them on the inside of their a/c vents. You only see it when it lights up.
