Default quick time performance headers

Has anyone here run qtp headers on there ls1 f-bodies. Are they really the best header for the f-body and are there really no clearance issues like SLP ones sometimes do.

Several people run QTP/Kooks SS headers. The general concensus is that they are the best you can buy, are they the best for the F-Body?? How much are you willing to spend and what are you expecting from a set of headers?? Its all preference. Try using the seach function, there literly hundreds of threads about these headers. I went with Kooks which are basically the same as QTP.

BTW, No other manufacture has clearance issues like the SLP's.

they ARE the best headers you can buy. I can vouch for this, cause i saved up and bought em. They are just a little bit tricky to install (car has to be incredibly high off the ground) but their quality is un-surpassed. They sounds great, and I have had them for about 2 months and see no signs of rust at all! You will be happy you got em. Put em on once, and never mess with em again!

Basically, they are the best headers you can buy. The craftmanship and performance of these headers are for sure better than most. If you have the money and want to go big, go with these headers.

Is the "merge collectors" worth the extra cash?

I have QTPs, they went in easy, just have to remove the oil filter and drain plug to get the left side in. Since I installed them, I haven't had any problems with them loosening up. Expensive, but very quality product, I would definitley give them a

I don't have the merge collectors, so I can't say if they help or not.

I have the QTP header and QTP catted Y-pipe. The headers are top-notch, really nice indeed. The Y-pipe needs to be redesigned in my opinion because it hangs too low.

I had to take my car to an exhaust shop so they could cut the pipes on the driver side, relocate the cat and work some angles to make the car drivable. Before this, I was hitting every single small bump you can imagine.

Now it's all good and I don't regret the purchase by any means, but for the price they charge they should redesign the Y-pipe.

I have QTPs with the collector and they are very good quality. They are better than any other headers I've bought.

As for the collector being worth the money. I think it is worth it

Can't go wrong with QTP's... definately sound good, after 3 years, not a stitch of rust on mine.. and they important paret.. they make POWER. Is there really any other reason to put headers on a car? No!

i have QTP headers too. quality on the headers is awesome, i was amazed. very easy fitment. their ORY is another story. find a local exhaust shop to make you a y pipe instead. the HVMCs are supposed to be worth a few hp, but not many go for it cause of the price. and QTP and Kooks are made out of 304? stainless steel, they will probably outlast the car.

The Y pipe was a pain... but QTP's Y catted Y has proven to make more power then other catted Y's out there... so I gues sit's livable. The offroad Y also makes realyl good power.. and if you wanna run a full 4 inch exhaust.. it's the only way to go, with the 4 inch flowmaster collector built in, it's a perfect mate up to a Mufflex 4 inch cat back.

Actually, once I get the heads on my car, if the cat's look to be a restriction, then I'll most likly purchase a offroad QTP Y and install it to a 4 inch mufflex catback... and jsut keep the old one with the LM for emmissions testing.

From what I hear also their Y-pipe sucks and hangs really low, and comes in about 50 pieces. Kooks has a great y-pipe that's tucks up really good so that's the route I intend to go. Flowmaster collector, I don't think is a big deal but you could probably put it on the Kooks y if you really just had to have it.

It sure does not. It does come in a couple of pieces because its adjustable to get the best fitment. And when it hangs low its not installed correctly. Just takes time and installed on a lift. If you do it on your back its not going to come out correctly. Look on how many people put the tsp x pipe on upside down. No other header/y pipe makes more power. And the merge collectors are worth it if you want the most out of your headers.

I agree. It is adjustable to fit correctly. It just takes some time to fit it up nice and tight

Yes... all true, it is made to be adjustable to tuck up as tight as possible. the shop that I made teh mistake of bringing my car to to have the headers installed fubar'ed mine up, it's still on teh car, but I know it was them, as I have helped someone install the thing now and see that it was actually easier then I thought...had I known how easy it actually was, I would have done mine myself. Live and learn I guess.

When cash allows I will be ordering a set of the 1-7/8 HVMC. They are some of the best out there.
