Default What to do about headers???

Well i am in the middle of a dilemma. I need some longtubes and a catted y to go with my GMMG. I have heard lots of horror stories about the TSP catted y fitted with the pacesetters. I want a good header and y combo that wont take away to much clearance. If i can find a good enough deal i will go with a qtp or kooks setup but i cant stand putting over a grand into some headers and a y. How far do the pacesetter lt's hang down? Is there a quality catted y pipe that will mate up to it?

From pics that I've seen, Kooks has the best y-pipe. QTP doesn't even come close. The bends in it, the location of the cats relative to the high center of the car, and just the fact that they tuck up almost as good or if not better than the stock y for driveability has caused me to go with Kooks when I buy headers in the near future.

Exactly why I went with Kooks. QTP's catted Y is in several pieces and I've heard that its a PITA to assemble and get to fit right. Kooks Y is a very nice piece, although I wish it was SS.

As far as clearance with the Y pipe and the Pacesetters, I didn't have a problem with the catted Y fitting but I then pulled it out to switch to the ORY for the sound and performance, only to have to get a bullet muffler later on. Why are you looking at getting the catted Y pipe? You could save money and still have a talkable daily driver with your GMMG. My dynomax bullet muffler made my LT/ORY/Loudmouth sound as if I went back to just my Loudmouth/stock manifolds. Also I have the prokit and don't have any problems with clearance. Just my .02s kid.

I went with the Pacesetter LT's and their ORY.
Fit is great. They tuck up nicely and there are no clearance/banging problems.

ZEEMAN, I can agree with the statement above about the Kooks y-pipe. I've never had a problem with banging or ground clearance. The Kooks headers themselves are well worth the money. I would never buy ceramic coated headers again after what I went through with mine. Hit me up and we can talk about the Kooks.
