The rotten egg smell comes from having cats. No cats = sweet smell of horsepower.

if you have CATS and use fuel with a high sulphur content you will get the smell of rotton eggs on startup.

This post really made me chuckle. People are complaining about the smell of a v8 w/out cats. Of course its going to smell. Add a cam, and headers, it will smell even more.

Random Technology cats are the best flowing ones...but also VERY expensive.
Get Carsound or Catco cats...flow nice, and you can get them for $100/pair shipped new on e-bay.... do the search.

All of my friends have taken off their cats and I don't smell anything in thier cars. Well maybe one I can think of I can smell some exhaust but it isn't bad. on my old 442 It was bad, I hated driving to work in it because it was so strong.

I added a Catted Y and don't have to worry about it no more.

I installed my headers over the weekend and I notice it exaclty like you did. I hate getting to work and smelling like exhaust

I had a 1995 Ford Probe GT with a t3/t3 60trim turbo kit with no cat running a hair on the lean side, and it was rank.. It would make me, and my garage absolutely disgusting!

It seems that it won't be nearly as bad with this car, so I'm going to give the ORY a shot since it isn't my DD

Right now I'm considering headers and true duals (over the axle) but since my youngest boy (3 months old) likes to ride in the bird, I don't really want to choke the kid on gas fumes, so is it possible to tune out the gas smell, or would it be better to get a set of hi flow cats
To be honest with you, I have dumped duals and cannot smell the least bit of gas inside the car with windows up. A/c blowing doesn't change anything either. Now if you roll the windows down you can smell it, but it's not choking. Now if you are outside and stand right next to it, it gets pretty bad.

it goes away, or rather you get used to it. And i havent had any complaints, even with mine dumping under the rear seat.

I love that smell. Someone should make cologne that smells like that.

EGR only active at operating temp and part throttle operation, the A.I.R. system was developed to "light" off cats quicker on cold startup, reducing emissions
