Default Need To Dump Loudmouth

Fellas, I'm in Massachusetts with noise *****. My LM is way too loud. I haven't tried but I think I would be hard-pressed to get a sticker now. I'm thinking about a Hooker to keep costs and noise down. Would that be a good choice? Anything under $500.00 that would be better? What about welding a muffler in my LM?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. As the situation is now, I'm screwed.

Thanks.

Maybe just swap out the LM resonator for a regular bullet. LM is supposed to be loud as hell with headers, which you have. You can get a bullet for like 30 bucks from Summit, get it welded in for another 20 or so.

Thanks dude, any brand name I can look for (bullet)?

If I don't go the bullet route, I might need to get the SLP Dual/Dual to be sure of passing. The cops told me that I can't have anything but the stock exhaust, and the SLP could pass for stock, but the bottom line is that I know if I can get it quieter than the LM I can pass.

Thanks again!

Well, if you can buy that by itself, it might be better but more expensive. I think those are stainless.

The ones I was talking about are made by Dynomax, they put them in the TSP Rumbler.

Yeah, it's about $89.00., yup SS. I wonder how much quieter it is though.

I'll look for the Dynamax. Thanks for the help!

Another option would be the XR1, but those cost even more than the LM2 bullet.

I found the Dynamax in 3" or 2 1/2" diameters. I think the LM is 3"?

Is the XR1 made by Dynamax?

Thanks!

The LM was okay when I was stock, and not too bad with headers, but after the cam it became a monster. I liked it, but I don't run an inspection station.

XR1 is Borla

I'm pretty sure both of the LM exhausts are 3 inch.

I was thinking Hooker. I like the price, but wonder if quality is good enough. I know it's not SS. I was listening on LS1 Sounds, but it's hard to know exactly what it will sound like in person.

Thanks.

You'll have basically the same exhaust if you get a Dynomax 18inch bullet. Yours will probably be a little louder though.

The cops got me so f***** up I'm worried more about getting them off my *** rather than sounding good. If I can pass, and sound good, then it's a big bonus.

Thanks!

If you want to change catbacks completely, Magnaflow is pretty quiet.

I can't believe the cops are so hard on you man. That is crazy.

I pretty much narrowed it down to Hooker and Magnaflow, but the Magnaflow sounded a little louder on LS1 Sounds.

We have noise ordinances on the books now.

Thanks.

One last quick question, does anyone know if the Hooker catback is quiter than a Magnaflow?

Thanks!
