This is what I'm using:

This is the oil it pulled out in the last 230 miles:

The pics are a bit fuzzy because the camera doesn't like to focus on the clear measuring cup, but it came out to 20 mL.

the valve seals will always leak a slight bit of oil and that is enough to keep the valves lubricated (something like 1 quart per 10k miles). The only thing oil in the intake does is greatly lower the octane of the gas. It also carbons up everything so there is no advantage to having oil in the gas or everyone would be putting a slight bit of 2 cycle oil in their gas when they fill up.

the best thing to do is to make sure no oil gets past the pcv system by using a catch can or some other method like a pump or evac system to eliminate the pcv. There are aircraft grade air/oil separators that might do good in a situation like this but I never looked into detail about them. I have used evac systems in the past with really good results so when I noticed how much oil was getting in the pcv it was just a simple thing for me to do to fix the problem. I have 10k miles on this setup and I can say it did improve the overall performance of the car and the mileage by eliminating practically all of the knock retard. I also will never have to check anything or replace the pcv valve again so it is a pretty low maintenance item once it is installed.

TAQuickness, could you give a little more info on your setup? Namely, where can I get it and what do I need to do to install it.

I have the cheapo setup right now ( fuel filters and vertical PCV ), and I'd like to move to a catch can.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you suposed to install a catch can on these cars after a header install? Also can you not install a catch can and just put in the LS6 valley to stop the oil from going through the PCV system

When you say it improved overall performance of the car how exactly are you measuring that? Did you scan for KR before and after? or has anyone else done that? I am just curious as to how this is improving performance. What mileage of your car as well if you don't mind sharing.

It seems that in many cases this is being beneficial to those already having problems. What about those cars without problems, has anyone done this that has collected a very insignificant amount of oil after install?

Actually, A lot of people do put 2 cycle oil or equal in their gas. However, I don't wish to argue the point because the use of an oil catch can does not defeat the purpose that I was describing. The oil catch can is an excellent way to keep excessive amounts of oil out of the intake while allowing small amounts of oil vapor into the intake. My opinion is that the lubricated air is better than non-lubricated air; similar to an air compressor utilizing an oiler to lubricate its' pressurized air.

You make good points about octane levels & carbon & for all I know, you could be completely correct. However, I would contend that more carbon build up comes from the egr. Anyway, just posted to clarify that I wasn't suggesting against an oil catch can, only against plugging the PCV port.
