New MSD Coil packs
Their ignition systems for a distributor car however is great... we have used them in all of our old muscle car projects.
Yes, they are expensive, and, yes, they may not help much, I agree there are peoplke making insane power with the stock coils, (hats off to GM), But I will have money to blow in the spring and like to cover all my supporting mods, so whether they help much or not, I will be buying them over the winter.
I have heard these arguments before on my Turbo Dodge about what a waste of money buying (1 $35 coil by the way
) ignition upgrades for those cars were and how Joe Somebody tested the Accell Coils against the stock ones and saw no gains, blah, blah. But when I put one on my car, It woke it up 2 tenths and 2 mph in the 1/4. I got further power gains by widening the stock spark plug gap and pushing all the tabs in the distributer closer to the rotor. (Another mod that everyone told me wouldn't work.) Before long, I was about .8 seconds faster in the 1/4 than anyone else with the same mods, (minus the coil and a 4 degree bump in timing which I was told wouldn't do a thing but cause detonation) but noone would believe me when I told them how I did it. They just thought it was magic or something. The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
